Valentine’s day in a pandemic

Valentine’s Day is about showing love and appreciation to a significant other. This year is just like any other, but there is a pandemic occurring, so here are a few safe ways to celebrate the special occasion.

What is more romantic than a picnic? All that is needed is a blanket to sit on, a basket to put food into, food, and the perfect spot. Celery Fields is a spectacular space outdoors, and this will provide six feet coverage from anyone else. With the elevation, the sunsets from the top of the hill are memorable.

If Celery Fields is not temping enough, then why not have a picnic at home? Clear some space on the floor and break out the checkered table cloth. The transportation or cooking of food would be a lot simpler in the comfort of your own home.

With a high of 75 degrees and a low of 64, taking a romantic stroll of the beach doesn’t have a better time. With a beach as large as Siesta Key, there are miles of beach to walk while still being socially safe.

UTC is hosting a drive-in movie-style event on Valentine’s Day. The movies start playing Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. with the starting movie as La La Land. At 9:30 Dirty dancing will be starting. Then on Saturday the 13th at 7pm. There will be 50 First Dates staring Adam Sandler, and at 9:30 p.m., The Notebook. Finally, on Sunday, Feb.y 14, at 7 p.m., will be the movie Valentine’s Day.

The price is determined by car size and number of seats in the car. For a small car the price for one movie is $40. Larger cars cost $60 for one movie. Since there are limited spaces for cars and for the best spot, there are reservations available on UTC’s website.

To finish the night off on Feb. 12 and 13, fireworks will be shot off at Nathan Benderson Park across the street from UTC starting at 9 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Valentine’s Day.

Love is forever, but these spots are not, so mark the date and create a reservation. Be Covid-19 aware, and have an Amazing Valentine’s Day.
