Quarantine has taken a toll on some of the greatest events and attractions in Sarasota. A responsible and thoughtful action, quarantining has provided a safer environment for people who are more at risk of death from the virus. However, many people are getting antsy being alone for so long, and now there is a safer way to spend time with friends and family.
This year will mark the twenty-third annual Thunder by the Bay Music & Motorcycle Festival, and it is open to anyone who enjoys music and is willing to pay a small fee of $5.
The event is set to take place on Feb. 19 and last for three days. It is set at the Sarasota Fairgrounds to benefit Suncoast Charities for Children, a local nonprofit located in Sarasota County. Net revenues raised from special events – like Thunder by the Bay – enable Suncoast Charites to provide financial support to several local nonprofits, including Children First, The Florida Center for Early Childhood and more.
Masks and social distancing are required for those who plan to attend the event, as CDC guidelines are still intact. Besides a mask, guests should bring a chair so they can relax while they enjoy featured headliner Molly Hatchet, who’s set to perform on Feb. 20.
This year’s festival will include a “United We Ride – America Strong” charity motorcycle ride, countless contests, and best of all, great food. That is not to mention the “Stereo Sound-Off Competition,” all to find out who has the loudest sound system on their motorcycles.
It is a safe and fun event that the whole family can enjoy. So long as everyone wears their masks and social distances as much as possible, it should be an event to remember
