Back in March, all concerts and shows were shut down because of the coronavirus, which leaves many wondering when they will resume once again.
Each day, scientists are learning more and more about the virus and how to prevent it. Masks and social distancing are the two best options so far that have been proven effective. This has many asking: how can concerts resume safely?
Many venues have either been closed or used by sports teams. With this being said, venues have lost a lot of money and will continue to do so until the return of a normal events schedule.
Venues are taking notes from how sports managers are handling the virus, which includes limited capacity, distancing and masks. However, performers and venues are not yet ready to commit to any events at this moment.
While in-person concerts have been put on pause, this has not stopped artists from performing live for their fans. Singer-songwriter Billie Eilish held a virtual concert for her fans. Eilish’s hits include “Bad Guy” and “Lovely.” Her “Where Do We Go” livestream on Oct. 24 gave her fans the opportunity to watch her in real time, as well as allow her to interact and see her fans.
The future of concerts right now is virtual. Singer-songwriter Dua Lipa has announced a virtual concert for her fans on Nov. 27. Her hits include “Don’t Start Now” and “New Rules.” Tickets are available for purchase now for the event.
Popular annual concert iHeart Radio Jingle Ball recently announced it will be happening virtually this year as well. On Dec. 14, at 8 p.m., fans can watch their favorite artists perform on the CW channel. Performers include Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Shawn Mendes and more.
Some artists expect the virus to improve by summer, 2021, while others don’t see anything happening until 2022, at best.
Each artist will handle touring differently, and only time will tell how the virus will play out.
