Rams Sink Sailors for the ninth straight year

Riverview (7-1) completes its regular season off with a 28-7 win over cross-town rival Sarasota. This comes to no surprise as the Rams have dominated in recent years over the Sailor’s winning the last nine matchups dating back to 2012. Think about it--back in 2011, the last time the Sailors were able to defeat the Rams, some of the current players on the Rams' roster were learning basic multiplication, President Obama was still serving his first term, and Todd Haley, current Riverview offensive coordinator, was the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Sailors did all they could to stop the streak but had no answers in the first half. It was a defensive showdown with a lot of running on both sides. After a scoreless first quarter, the Rams were able to punch in two touchdowns before the half ended, but the Sailors had a chance to cut the lead in half late in the second quarter, after a muffed punt return by Omari Hayes.

The Sailors started at the Rams’ 11-yard line but that quickly changed to the 21 after back-to-back false starts.

The Rams would hold the Sailors out of the endzone and scoreboard on that final drive and took a 14-0 lead into the half.

The Rams would add two more touchdowns in the third quarter to put away any chances of a Sailor comeback.

Sarasota was able to punch in one score before the clock hit zero, but nevertheless, for the ninth straight year, it was another dominant performance over Sarasota as the Rams now prepare for the playoffs.

Looking ahead to plant

Riverview's first playoff matchup was Nov. 13 on the road against the Plant Panthers (2-5). The Rams are looking to get further than they did last year in the playoffs, and with the roster they have, and the way that game turned out, that is definitely a possibility.

The Rams were ready for Plant, who has struggled with good teams all year long and have only been able to pick up two wins on the season. As expected, the Rams won 42-0.

Now, the team faces Lennard in the Ram Bowl Friday night, where they should control the game.

Prediction:

Rams 42, Lennard 10
