Luca: Classic Meets Avante-Garde

Pixar never seizes to amaze its audience with fun-filled adventure, all the while captivating us with emotion and hardship relatable to our everyday lives. Most of their movies are nearly perfect, except one film that obtained a low rating on behalf of both its audience and its critics (the movie is Cars 2, but I think you knew that already).

Despite that one hiccup, Pixar makes fantastic films, which makes everyone all the more excited for their upcoming film Luca. Set to appear on Disney+ in June, 2021, Luca centers around a young boy in Italy as he experiences an unforgettable summer. Along the way, Luca makes a friend – soon to be his best friend – who holds a secret that he is a sea monster from another world.

This film seems unlike anything they have done in the past, and viewers are excited to see how it will turn out. Pixar is known for adding an emotional element to their films rooted from a sad truth about life. It is exciting to see just how they involve a new theme into this adventure-filled animation.

Luckily, people who are still reluctant to enter theaters will not have to worry about seeing this film or missing it either. Luca will skip theaters and open on Disney+. Other films have also opened on Disney+, including Pixar’s Soul and Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon.
