When hearing about the movie “The Hunger Games,” I assumed it was just an ordinary and action-packed film not worth watching. Upon reading numerous reviews, I decided to give it a shot. The dystopian film shows what life would be like if the world was placed into different “districts.” When watching it, I was first confused and didn’t understand how the film was set up. After watching the movie, I had a change of heart.
The film is definitely worth watching. In the dystopian society, the 12 “districts” contain different people. Almost like a hierarchy, the first district contains the highest authority and as you move on, the more poverty you find in each district. Each district is forced each to select a boy and a girl, called Tributes, to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games. Every citizen must watch as the youths fight to the death until only one remains.
While the film shows incredible attention to detail, there are some minor issues I have with the movie. For starters, the film is extremely confusing in the beginning. If I hadn’t read the reviews beforehand, I would have been puzzled the whole time. The producers assume that you should just know what is happening and understand it, while in reality, some people still get confused. However, I believe this movie is worth your time if you like action-packed movies. The characters mix together so well, and the effects are amazing. Through explosions and falling buildings, this movie is very well made.
Before watching this movie, you should know that it is full of action and if you aren’t a fan of action films, I wouldn’t recommend this movie for you. Also, I strongly urge you to read a summary or review of the movie without any spoilers. It will help you in the long haul when trying to understand and comprehend this movie.
