The men’s lacrosse team wrapped up its season last Friday, and the team had a stellar season.

Finishing 14-3-0 overall and being 8-1 in conference play, they ended up being ranked No. 243 nationally and coming in seventeenth in the state of Florida.

The young thundering herd is proud of what they have accomplished.

Erik Strom ’20 feels satisfied with his team and his commitment to the winning season as well, because “lacrosse is a team sport.”

“We set out to win as many games as possible and have fun, and I’d say that we accomplished that goal,” Strom continued.

Strom explained that even with a great season, one cannot forget the fundamentals.

“We needed to work on ground ball pickups and moving the ball in between boxes on the field,” Strom elaborated, “but over the course of the season, I’d say that we improved upon this skill.”

“Even though I say that as a team we need to work on moving the ball in between boxes, I also need to work on my fundamentals as well,” Strom said.

“My skill that I need to work on in this upcoming off-season is improving my stick skills.”

He continued, “Stick skills are the most fundamental part in playing lacrosse, and once I master this skill, then all the other more advanced maneuvers will come more naturally.”

The men’s lacrosse team only had a couple of dark spots during the season.

They only had three losses, to Cardinal Mooney, IMG Academy and Shipley High School in Pennsylvania.

“We strive to be an undefeated team every year,” Strom said.

“We just came up three games short, which is tough, but I truly believe that we have a shot at being that undefeated team.”

The future is bright for this team as they will have an experienced roster for next year having 20 of 36 returning for next year.
