The new school year has finally arrived, which means Riverview athletes are hitting the fields for the fall season. One of the Rams’ most anticipated sports team is the star-studded girls’ cross country team.
With top runners Allison Behne Sharma '20 and Terra Ehrhart '20 leading the Lady Rams, the season is looking to be one for the books.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing new teammates work hard to improve and become better runners,” said Ehrhart. Ehrhart has been running cross country for a total of six years, with one of them being Junior Varsity and the other five running on Varsity.
Last year, the girls of the cross country team had a very successful season, winning multiple duel meets, prior to being named the champions at the FHSAA district meet.
This season, the team is more fired up than ever and ready to rack up as many titles as possible. “Ever since summer practices, I’ve been training with the team and attending as many practices as possible to prepare for the upcoming season,” Ehrhart said.
Along with cross country, Ehrhart is also involved in RHS track and the high school Sailing Club. “I really try to do homework at any possible minute during the school day so that I have less work after my practices,” Ehrhart said, regarding balancing school and athletics.
As the team prepares for the routine 5K (3.1 mile) race at the weekly meets, Ram Nation can be sure to cheer them on. Be sure to catch up on how the cross country ladies did at their opening meet at Lemon Bay on Aug. 26, since results were not available at press time
